- Building opp. Aurora Towers on Main Street
Much has changed in Pune City. What once was the captial city of the Peshwas, the Eton of the East and the bastion of Marathi culture and language has now turned into the IT industry’s new hot spot populated by over 5 million people and has more two-wheelers on its roads than any other city in our country. The change has been both good and bad as Pune is now one of the top destinations for jobs in the services sector and at the same tiime is barely managing to provide basic facitlities like water, electricity and infrastructure to all its citizens. Puneri culture is also being diluted as the city becomes more populated and cosmopilitan.
Old Pune photos’ sources are unknown (taken anywhere between 60-100 years ago); text and today’s Pune photos by KSN.

Cosmopolitanism, as I see it, is a good thing.
